Edwin Murtsell

MURTSELL - Edwin Oscar Murtsell, the youngest of four children, born to Frank and Anna Murtsell, nee: Anderson died in Nanaimo on March 18, 2008. He was born September 16, 1914 at Comox, BC. His parents had emigrated from Arvidsjaur, Sweden a few years earlier. Eddie grew up close to the now abandoned Comox Logging and Railroad townsite known as Headquarters near Merville north of Courtenay, BC. He worked in the forest industry all his working days, first at Lake Cowichan, then Headquarters, north to Sandspit and retired from Crown Zellerbach in Ladysmith, BC. He was predeceased by his first wife the former Nellie Nairn in May 1979, a grandson Daryl Cluchey in May 1970, his daughter Carol in July 1999 and his second wife the former Brenda Ball in October 2000. His three sisters also predeceased him, Margaret in March 1988, Aleda in March 1992 and Edna in February 2002. Surviving are two sons, Brian of Surrey and Ray of Ladysmith, five grandchildren Debra Silverton, Kevin Cluchey, Laura, Garry and Neil Murtsell and two great-granddaughters, Kohle and Kaila Silverton.
