Betty grew up in the B.C. interior. After moving to the valley, she worked in Eaton’s and Simpson Sears. She married Norm Dawson in 1973. They spent much time traveling. Winters were spent in Arizona where Norm convinces her to learn square dancing; many of Betty’s crafts also had their origin here. From that time on they danced where ever possible. A highlight was a lengthy trip to Australia. They never missed a convention or festival.

In the summer they were caretakers at Kitty Coleman Provincial Park, many hours were spent fishing and on the beach. Betty shared her knowledge of birds, trees and flowers with her grandchildren. She always had a sewing, quilting or knitting project on the go. Betty was also known for her artistic ability. She painted with oils and water colors. Family and friends have many of her paintings on their walls. All who knew her were blessed by her friendship and kindness.

The family would like to extend many thanks to Dr. Burgess the staff, Residents and volunteers at Eagle view Lodge and special thanks to Ed Dawson, Murray Mackie and C Wing at Eagle view for their help and care.
