It Is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Bunny (Elizabeth) Shannon, from cancer, on November 1st at the age of 74 in Union Bay. Bunny passed peacefully in her home as she'd wished, surrounded by her loving husband Clark Munro and her daughters, Rachel and Jesse Ziegler and granddaughter Bailey.
Over the years, Bunny and Clark opened their home to many foster children, as well as to many others who needed care and comfort. She never missed an opportunity to lift spirits with her smile and supportive words. Bunny was passionate about building awareness in the importance of community organizations and was an active supporter of social and environmental causes in the Comox Valley. She cared deeply about the quality of education and work for 19 years as Comox Valley School Trustee, advocating for the rights of both teachers and students. She loved to travel in the wilderness with her partner, Clark, whom she met while both were working at Strathcona Park Lodge. She felt joy in nature, especially when camping surrounded by friends and family. The wonderful meals Bunny could create with only a campfire to cook on were legendary.
A lifelong lover of music, she was a regular at music festivals and loved songs and lyrics. If one song could sum up her attitude about life, it would be these words from Imagine, by John Lennon: "Imagine all the people, living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer ... but I'm not the only one ..."
Bunny had grace, beauty, Intelligence and a wonderful smile that didn't desert her, even when her health did. She is missed and will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved her.
