MOUGHTON (nee Clarke) Elizabeth Jane

November 3, 1912 - December 12, 2009

With her family by her side, Elizabeth passed away peacefully December 12 at St. Joseph’s Hospital ER. She was predeceased by her husband, Horace, who died after the D-Day Invasion in France, her brothers Billy, Jimmy, Fred, John, and sister Henrietta. Elizabeth is survived by her son Terry (Pam), grandson Scott, great granddaughters Recie and Brianna, great-great grandson Damien, her sister Millie in Australia, and numerous nieces and nephews in Alberta, England and Australia.

Elizabeth was born within the sound of Bow bells in London, England to George and Elizabeth Clarke. Following her marriage to Horace, she moved to Dagenham, Essex. Horace and Elizabeth had one son, Terence. After the death of her husband, she and her son immigrated to Edmonton where she worked as a seamstress. In 1963 Elizabeth headed for a warmer climate in Vancouver and then in later years to Comox. Known to many as “Grandma M”, she is remembered for her sunny disposition and her love of children.

No service at Elizabeth’s request. Memorial donations may be made to your favourite children’s charity. Arrangements by Piercy’s Mt Washington. Internment will be at Courtenay Civic Cemetery.

Many thanks to Dr. Edward Howard, the paramedics, the caring staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital ER, 3rd floor staff, ECU and Glacier View Lodge. Elizabeth’s final months at Glacier View were happy ones. For that the family is thankful.
