On May 31st, Elizabeth White passed away peacefully in her sleep with her beloved husband, Bruce by her side.
She is survived by her husband of 65 yrs, Hubert Bruce White, her daughter, Lorna White, brother George Ward, sisters in law, Marion Frame, Betty Annand and Flo White, and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents, Nellie Ward and Reverend Albert Ward, and her sister Leslie Bishop.
Elizabeth was born in Calgary in 1919 and moved with her family to Vancouver as a child. She taught school in Peace River after attending normal school then married Bruce in 1942 and moved with him to Powell River. They moved to the Comox Valley in 1951 and in 1954 had their only child Lorna. In the early 50’s she helped to found the Courtenay Baptist Church which she attended as an organist/pianist for the rest of her life. For about 30 years, she volunteered her musical services to the extended care at St. Josephs Hospital as well as playing for weddings, funerals and other events at almost every church in the valley.
She will be remembered with love and gratitude for her life of service to others.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, June 9 at 1:00 pm at the Courtenay Baptist Church on Lake Trail Rd.
