1939 - 2019 ~ At the age of 79, surrounded by her loved ones, Winnie was called home to heaven on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.
She spent her early life in Victoria, where she was born. She met the love of her life, Bob, in grade 3, and they were married 13 years later at the ages of 21 and 22. Winnie and Bob started a life together running their own business, Streeton Woodworkers, and soon after began a family that would include 4 children. They built a safe and loving home environment where their doors were always open and welcoming to family and friends. Over the years they opened their home to many other children who needed a loving place to stay, and later in life became foster parents to many more children.
When their family was young, they moved from Victoria to Courtenay, where they continued to show their love to others through being involved in Sunday school and youth group at their local church. Winnie loved to cook and used her talents as the head cook for the Junior Girls camp at Camp Imadene for many years, creating amazing memories for her family and for many campers. She loved to use her kitchen to spread love. All her life Winnie did her best to spread God's love and serve her saviour, Jesus.
Winnie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Bob; children, Mike (Teresa), Chris (Denice), Mark (Sherry), and Brenda (Leighton); 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and sister, Meg.
Memorial donations may be made to Camp Imadene at https://imadene.com/donate.html or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca).
