April 20, 1926 - May 17, 2019
On May 17th, 2019 at the age of 93 our Mom went to be with the Lord.
Elsie was born in Holdfast, Saskatchewan on April 20th, 1926. She arrived in Black Creek along with her parents Henry and Elizabeth Schulz in 1932 and they were the first Mennonite settlers of the area. She attended school in Black Creek, mastering the English language and later working in the family business...the Schulz General Store.
Elsie and her husband Aron raised four children and worked hard on their hobby farm, milking cows, gardening, canning, sewing and everything in between. Mom was an avid traveller and had been to all the continents.
In 2000 she moved from Black Breek to Courtenay and in 2017 went to reside in Cumberland Lodge. Our Mom never complained and gave of herself to anyone who needed her help. Family was everything to her.
Elsie was a member of the Mennonite Church and Harmony Hearts. She was also a member of the Black Creek Community Association. Her biggest hobby was being the family historian.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, brothers Henry and Peter Schulz and granddaughter Dawn Cawdell. She is survived by her sister Ann Wiebe, her children Rita Choquette, Gary Enns, Tim Enns and Christine Koop and their spouses, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She will be missed. Celebration of Life will be held for Elsie Enns on August 3rd at 11:00 am at the United Mennonite Church in Black Creek.
