Eveline Ramsay Thompson passed away on August 1, 2014 in Comox, B.C. at the age of 88. She was the last of the family's senior generation - loving mother to Pauline (Robert) and Sheila (Winston); grandmother to Rowan (Lauren), Aman and Kambili; great-grandmother to Luca and Maëlle. Eveline was predeceased by Leslie in 2008, her husband of 60 years, and her son Brian in 2012.
Eveline was born in Sunderland, England, where she met and married Leslie. Together they immigrated to Calgary with their two daughters Pauline and Sheila and where Brian was born. Eveline lived in Calgary for over 60 years. In 2012, after her son passed away, she moved to Comox, B.C. to enjoy the coastal climate and be close to her daughter's family.
Ev, as she was known, was a caring woman, with a ready laugh. For most of her life she was a bundle of energy and took on many challenges. Her spirit of adventure and love of family trips took her on many journeys - to southern Africa, Guyana, the Caribbean, England, Europe and the South Pacific. She was a very skilled craftswoman, who tackled hundreds of projects - knitting for many babies, quilting, sewing and doing needlepoint. We all benefited from her amazing hand-made items.
Ev had a strong loving presence. She will be fondly remembered by her family in Canada and the UK, and her special long-time friends in Calgary and her new friends in Comox. Rest in peace, Ev, we’ll always be moved by your warmth, love, generosity and devotion. Ever loved!
Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her wonderful doctors, Dr. Erin Gregory and Dr. Anthony Booth and to Sandy, with VIHA home care, who guided us through the last days.
