Evelyn Gladys Scherr

March 3, 2019
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts we announce that on March 3rd our beloved mother passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side. Evelyn was born in Moose Jaw, Sask to Gladys and George Gray.

She lived in Moose Jaw, Metz (France), and Comox where Dad was stationed in the military. Evelyn and David raised their 4 children on their small farm in Tsolum. Many may remember her also working outside the home at Lor-Don Abattoir and Gunter Brothers Meats.

Evelyn’s life was her family, and she was the heart of it. Evelyn cared for her husband David at home until it was too physically difficult to manage the symptoms of his Multiple Sclerosis. She moved to Victoria to be closer to David who was living in Gorge Road hospital.

They returned to the Comox Valley when David moved into extended care at St Joseph’s hospital. No matter where mom was living, she always ensured she had enough room for her family to visit and stay with her. Evelyn was an avid reader, and she shared her books with family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and loved her little dog Bloom.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband David, infant daughter Catherine, her parents, sister Lylia, brother Alvery, brother-in-laws Henry and Alan. She is survived by her daughter Maureena Boguski (Rob), daughter Debra Moldenhauer (Jerome), son David Scherr (Ethel), and daughter Cindy Greenhill (Glen), grandchildren Kristin (Greg), Colin (Eve), Craig (Megan), Carissa (Brad), Matthew, Evan, Jacob, Thea (Jordan), Logan, Nicole, Jazzlyn (Sydney), Tianna (Basil), great grandchildren Alina, Dreden, Kale, Isaac, Linden, Winston, Emily, and Aleah.

Mom will be forever missed by her family and friends. There will be no funeral as was Mom’s request. Donations may be made in Evelyn’s memory to the Cancer Society, MS Society or Charity of your choice.
