Feb 3, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn Hodgins announces her peaceful passing on February 3rd, 2018, at the age of 92. Born to Bill and Jean Murray in Vancouver, Evelyn moved with her family to the Comox Valley in 1938.

She is predeceased by her husband Walter and sister Frances and survived by her brother Charlie Murray and sister Gladys Grycan as well as her children, Linda and Harvey, nephew Lorne, and grandchildren Todd Hodgins (Michelle), Jennifer Sagucio (Jerry) and Lukas Pearse ((Melissa).

Also by her great granddaughters, Zella and Lila Pearse as well as many nieces and nephews.

A hard worker all her life, Evelyn, along with Walter, also enjoyed many community activities. She was a lifetime member of the Canadian Daughters for 55 years. She enjoyed curling and golfing, along with the good friendships that came from them.

On the home front, she was an avid gardener and literally a "home maker", having designed, and helped in the construction of, two family homes.

Evelyn will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her kindness and quiet sharp wit. Special thanks to Todd and Michele Hodgins, as well as Irene and Andy Gardner, whose indispensable help allowed Evelyn to stay in her home till very near the end of her life.

Thanks also to the staff of the Oceanview wing of The Views for their compassionate care in her final days.

A memorial tea will be held at the family home on Oakridge Drive on Saturday, February 10th from 1 to 4 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Society or the CNIB.
