Forgeron , Fabian

1937 ~ 2010

Fabian Forgeron passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 21st. He was born in Cape Breton and spent his childhood in the fishing village of Main a Dieu. Lobster fishing from a very young age enabled him to attend St. Francis Xavier University where he obtained his BSC Cum Laude. He received his Masters degree from Carlton University and then went to the University of Manchester, England for his Doctorate. He travelled the world as a geologist but in the latter part of his life he concentrated on the West Coast of B.C. Where he prospected.... fish farmed logged and sawed wood off his property.

He was a lifetime member of the B.C. And Yukon Chamber of Mines, an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and a long time representative on St. Joseph’s Hospital Board of Governors.

A lover of the Great Outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all Fabian loved boats, building, remodelling and running them. Those who knew him will remember his big laugh, his generous heart, and that he lived life with gusto.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Margaret, his three sisters – Joan McGrath, Margaret Geraghty, Mary Timoshyk, his six brothers – Alphonsus, Ron, Fulton, Steven, Dennis, Seymour, brothers and sisters-in-law and his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

The care given by Dr. Helmer and the home care nurses Monica, Barb and Sandy was marvelous. Thank you.

Prayers will be offered with visitation and viewing from Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay on Monday, December 27th at 7:00pm, followed by Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, December 28 at 1:00pm from Christ the King Roman Catholic Church with Father Marek Paczka, SDS, Celebrant. Following cremation, Spring Interment will take place in Nova Scotia. Should friends wish, donations may be made in his memory to L-Arche, Comox Valley, with appreciation.
