LINEKER, Florence Ivey

August 26, 1914 – May 23, 2012

Florence passed away peacefully at home of the morning of the 23 May 2012 in her 97th year. Florence, “Toots” as most of her friends and family knew her, was always a very cheerful and kind person whose positive outlook on life will be dearly missed. Toots is survived by her 2 children; her daughter Patricia Elizabeth Lineker and her son, Richard Donald Lineker.

Florence was born in Whitelake, B.C. August 26, 1914. The daughter of Vincent Ormond and Winifred Wilson, she was the middle child of seven, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Toots grew up in the interior of B.C., then the family made their way to Vancouver Island during the depression.

Toots and 2 of her sisters joined the R.C.A.F. in 1939, where she became a cook at the hospital in Comox, B.C. In 1954 she married Donald Clarence Lineker whom she loved dearly and was married to for 50 years.

A special and heartfelt thank you must go to all the care aids and the nurses from VIHA who came daily over the last three years to care for our mother. You allowed her to stay at home, which is where she wanted to be. Also, a special thanks to the staff of the Cumberland Lodge Adult Day Program, you did a great job entertaining our mother twice weekly for the last 3 years. She thoroughly enjoyed her time at the lodge.

Toots was a loving and devoted wife and a kind, caring and understanding mother. She has left a warm place in the hearts of all the family and friends whose lives that she touched. Mom, we will miss you dearly, you will always be in our thoughts.
