Frances Alice Armstrong (Taylor) was born in Campbell River, BC on September 9th, 1924, and passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2002 in Comox, BC. She lived her entire life on the West Coast ~ Quadra Island, Crofton, Port Alberni, Squamish, Ucluelet, Merville and Courtenay. She married J.W. (Wilf) Armstrong on September 19th, 1942. Frances is predeceased by her step-father Edward Stolle, father Frank Taylor, and mother Alice (Nutting). She is survived by her brother Patrick (Natasha) Stolle, Kelowna; son Philip (Karen), Port Alberni ~ and their children: Linda, Courtenay, George (Stacey) and Mikayla, Elisha and McEnzie (Lloydminster, SK), Cheryl (Rich) Matthew, Langley; daughter Linda (Ralph) Kraft, Campbell River ~ their children: Leah (Brad) Assu and Tyanaa, Shanyaa (Quadra Island), and Shane (Nanaimo); daughter Diane (Bryan) Currie, Calgary ~ their children Sarah and Janice; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins in Canada and England; many special friends; and her much loved “furry friends”, Ginger and Buffy.


Frances was a “homemaker” in the true sense of the word, and she was always ready to sit down for a chat, with a cup of tea, of course. She loved gardening and her little dogs. Frances was always active in community/volunteer organizations. During the war she was part of the Civil Defence as a plane spotter. She has been a member and secretary of St. Mary’s Anglican Church (Merville) Ladies Guild for more than 40 years; Past Noble Grand of Tsolum #78 Rebekah Lodge (IOOF); member of “Friends of the Library”; and “Doll Lady” for Santa’s Workshop. Frances was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.


Funeral Services for Frances Armstrong were held on Saturday, July 6th, 2002 at the Church of St. John the Divine, Courtenay, with Father John Lancaster officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society, St. Joseph’s Hospice Society, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Piercy’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
