July 7, 1926 - October 29, 2021
In loving memory ~
Frances Cecilia "Lee" Doylend (nee Gelley) born July 7, 1926 joined her heavenly family on October 29, 2021 in her 95th year. Lee had a spirit and tenacity for living life to the fullest with an enduring love of God.
Lee was predeceased by her loving husband Bill, and her dear sisters Denise and Louise, and looked forward to joining them in heaven for a reunion of love, laughter and song. She is survived by her younger brother Gerard (Sharon).
Born and raised in Saint Boniface, Manitoba, Lee was an accomplished musician at a very young age and began her musical education playing the organ at Sunday mass. She devoted her studies and talent to over 70 years of liturgical service in dozens of churches and a wide variety of organs and pianos worldwide.
Lee and Bill married in 1947 and through their 59 years of marriage raised 6 children coast to Canadian coast, Thomas (Linda), Christopher (Myriam), Patrick (Lynn), Colleen, Kevin, and Roberta. Lee was a proud and loving grand and great grandmother - known to her 60 great grandchildren as "Gee Gee". She held her family to high standards and her observant green eyes and fast wit kept everyone on their toes. Lee's life was rooted in her family, friends and faith, and teaching each of us to be who we need to be.
Lee was a piano, organ, and voice teacher, dental nurse, travel agent, and artist. She and Bill built 3 beautiful homes where Lee loved to gather family and friends with good food, rich conversation, and music.
Lee was very aware and grateful that prayers sustained her as she made an incredibly graceful exit from this life on earth. She graciously thanked her family and friends for their kindness and prayers.
The family expresses their gratitude to the palliative care givers at Island Health, Dr. Galik, the Comox Pharmasave team, and especially Tracie Robertson and the compassionate nurses and personal care givers at Home Instead, as well as family, friends and neighbours who supported Lee through this challenging journey.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral Mass at Christ the King Parish, Courtenay, was held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11:00 am.
"I am just a wisp on the wind. I trust you Jesus." ~ Lee
