March 30, 1936 – March 5, 2016

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father, Frank Papp, on Saturday, March 5, 2016, just a few weeks shy of his 80th birthday.

Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Renate in 2012, and he is survived and missed by his children Frank (Susan), John, and Christina (Andy), as well as by 11 grandchildren.

Born in Pamhagen, Austria, Frank immigrated to Canada at the young age of 16, leaving the family farm behind. He became a certified red-seal chef and was well-known throughout the upper Vancouver Island. He worked at the Empress Hotel, the Discovery Inn, Haida Inn, and many logging camps, including Phillips Arm, Seymour Narrows, Toba Inlet and Nootka Island. He finished his career at Mount Washington after 10 years.

Frank was devoted to his family and he worked hard every day of his life for his wife and children until retiring at the age of 76. He was a wonderful man and we are all better people having known him.

A private family gathering is to be held at a later date.
