Fred passed away into the loving arms of Jesus after a very brief illness of cancer. Fred was born in Vancouver and retired to Vancouver Island 24 years ago. He was a Commercial Fraud Investigator for Canada Customs until his retirement. Fred volunteered in many organizations over the years, most notably as an instructor teaching Safe Boating for the Canadian Power & Sail Squadron for 26 years, President of the Comox Valley Marine Rescue Society, and an adjudicator for the Community Justice Centre. Fred was also an active member of the Comox Valley Yacht Club and the Valley Vintage Wheels Car Club. He was also active in his church.
Fred loved boating and fishing. He and his wife had many wonderful boating cruises on their boat and ocean liners.
He is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Jannine Barnes and his granddaughter Leanne. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorna whom he met at church 57 years ago, his 3 daughters, Yvonne (Todd) Dickson, Marilyn (Brian) Gale, Sylvia (Paul) Schaffhauser, 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and his brother, Joe (Sandy).
A celebration of life will take place at Northgate Foursquare Church, 1640 Burgess Road, Courtenay, B.C. on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm
