POGROW, Gary


Pogrow - Gary of Courtenay passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital on Friday February 19th, 2010 with his loving wife Margo by his side. Predeceased by his daughter Heather (Sept 2009) and his parents Leo and Raye Pogrow of the Bronx, New York. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife Margo; granddaughters Cassandra of Courtenay and Sarah Jayne of Ottawa; as well as great grandson Paul and bro Jack.


Gary was a graduate of City College, New York City. He was a teacher, taught theatre, was a Freedom Rider in the Civil Rights Movement, writer and publisher of Pogrow's Midresh. He also formed the Theatre of Peace in New York City. A celebration of Gary's life took place on Tuesday February 23rd from Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Road.
