George died peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox on September 21, 2006 at the age of 66 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

George was predeceased by his brother Ron, sister Marlene and his father Leonard. He is survived by his son Gardner and daughter Angela (Tom); his grandchildren: Alysha and Chelsea and his sisters and brothers: Theresa (Jim), Wesley (Judy), Robert (Joy), John, Bernice (Guy), Dennis (Karen), and Debbie (Andy). George is also survived by his mother Rhoda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

George was born in Mapes, BC on November 5, 1939. He moved to the Comox Valley in 1941. George served with the Royal Canadian Air Force. After his air force service, he worked as a partsman for Coast Tractor Equipment in Nanaimo until his retirement in 1994. Upon retirement, George enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with his granddaughters, family and friends.

George was a member of the Kinsmen, Boy Scouts of Canada, Royal Canadian Legion, RCAF Association, RCAF Cadet Office and the Nanaimo Lacrosse Association.

A Service will be held in George’s memory at the Aaron House Christian Fellowship, 2946 Kilpatrick Avenue, Comox, BC on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 1:00pm with Pastor Judy Pebernat officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Wheels for Wellness Society at 1894 Bolt Ave, Comox, BC, V9M 2J4 or the Aaron House Christian Fellowship.
