January 1925 – August 2016

Gerald passed quietly on August 29th, surrounded by many of his family in his home. He had struggled bravely with pain for many years and is now able to rest peacefully.

Gerald is greatly missed and remembered by his wife, Marge and his children: Lois Miller (Jim), Gale and Bev Miller, Cal and Ruth Miller, Linda and Pat Walker, Dwayne and Lydia Miller, and Allen and Ria Miller. He is also survived by his brother and wife, Jim and Evelyn Miller and by over fifty grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Gerald described himself as a “jack of all trades”, as he loved to build, repair and design many new inventions. He even re-designed a walker so he could enjoy many walks in his neighbourhood. He retired to the Comox Valley in 1980 with his wife, Jean, who passed away in 1985. Gerald was a prairie man but also loved the Comox Valley where he took up sailing and downhill skiing in his late fifties and early sixties.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to go to a charity of your choice or to Cystinosis Canada, or Joubert Syndrome Foundation. These organizations were meaningful to Gerald and his three great-granddaughters live daily with these conditions. More information will be available at the Celebration of Life.

A special thank you to Dr. Johann Nel, the wonderful care aids and nurses from Home Care, the Comox Pharmasave pharmacist and staff, and our many friends who have supported the family during this difficult time.

Please join the family for a Celebration of Life for Gerald on Saturday, September 3rd from 7-9pm at the Comox Seniors Centre, 1801 Beaufort Ave., Comox. There will be a brief program at 7:45pm.
