KLIMMEK, Gerhard (Gerry)

1929 - 2010


Gerry passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital on March 18th. Predeceased by his wife Irma in December 2008, he is survived by a sister and extended family in Germany. He will be greatly missed by his many friends in the Comox Valley, California and Germany.


Gerry came to Canada in 1959 and pursued a career in International and Great Lakes Shipping; he later moved to California with Irma and operated a used car sales business and a bar in Ahaheim known as "The Office". Upon retirement Gerry and Irma returned to Canada and settled in the Comox Valley. The couple set-up and operated the Seal Bay B&B, they were popular colourful vendors at both the Thrifty Foods and Washington Inn Sunday morning flea markets. Gerry's passions were; Knowledge Network weekend Drama's, Formula One Racing and European Soccer. He tried to watch every televised race and game available.


Many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Gino Tancon, the Comox Fire Department Paramedics, BC Ambulance Service, and the St. Joseph's Hospital Third Floor Nursing Staff for their care and compassion.


At Gerry's request, no memorial will be held and his ashes will be interred with Irma's in the Courtenay Civic Cemetery at Mission Hill.
