Gil passed away peacefully at the age of 84, Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at his home in Courtenay. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Gwendolyn Audrey (Ware) Davis in 2001. Gilbert Davis was born and raised in Cumberland, BC. He spent most of his life working in the Comox Valley and Campbell River areas: first, very briefly, in the #4 mine in Cumberland, then as a logger for Comox Logging, and finally for 30 years at the mill at Elk Falls as a millwright. He raised his family at Willow Point, then moved to Courtenay in 1984 after he retired.

Gil will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Gert Bonora of Courtenay; his children: Gilbert (Brigitte) Davis Jr. of Port Coquitlam, Trudy (Michael) Castle of Sonoma, California, and Ronald (Maye) Davis of Courtenay; his grandchildren: Shane Davis of Vancouver, Lesli (Toby) vanVliet of Campbell River, and Alexina Davis of Port Coquitlam; his great-grandchildren: Vanessa and Cobe van Vliet, and Lily Davis. As well, Gil will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Family and friends are invited to share their remembrances of Gil’s life at a memorial tea to be held in his honour, Saturday, February 22, 2003, from 2 to 4 pm. at Piercy’s Funeral Chapel Reception Room. Donations may be made, in Gilbert Davis’ memory, to your favourite charity.
