BOMBINI

Gladys Irene

July 26, 1925 - January 31, 2009

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Gladys at St. Joseph's Hospital, Comox, BC; early Saturday morning, after a lengthy illness. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her four children, David (Gail), Michael (Shindy), Brenda (Todd) and Vicki (Ross), and by her four grandchildren, Lisa (Daniel), Kristy (Rino), Danielle and Dylan.

Gladys was born in Windsor, Ontario, in 1925 and spent her early years growing, learning, and working to help support family during the difficult years of the Depression. In 1944 she met and married, Samuel Bombini, who was serving in the army awaiting posting to Europe. She travelled west to meet Sam's family in the small city of Greenwood, BC and there she and Sam resided and raised their children. Gladys was an avid sports woman who relished the fishing, hunting, skating, softball and curling that small town life provided.

Gladys spent several years in Vancouver where she made many new friends while singly managing apartment buildings before retiring in Comox to be near her daughters. Some of her happiest years were spent in her apartment on the waterfront with her best friend and companion Maltese dog, Rocky.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Bradley Harris and the 3rd Floor St. Joseph's Hospital staff for their kind care this past month.

A private gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to BC Children's Hospital or a charity of your choice.
