In loving memory ~

Glenda Anne Kinney, 72, of Courtenay, British Columbia, passed away peacefully on 29 May 2025. Born on 09 October 1952, Glenda was a proud veteran who dedicated her life to service, both in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and her community.

Glenda is survived by Margaret, her sister, and Donald, her twin brother. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Annetta. She also leaves behind her cousin Jean Jewell of Burlington, Ontario, her children David and Susan and many cousins in British Columbia, Manitoba and California.

Glenda proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) from 1976 to 2010, achieving the rank of Master Warrant Officer (MWO). Her military career took her to various parts of Canada, including Cold Lake, AB, Portage La Prairie, MB, Inuvik, NT, Esquimalt and Comox, BC, and the world, including tours in CFS Alert in Nunavut, where she received the Special Service Medal (SSM), and on HMCS Algonquin where she received the South West Asia Service Medal (SWASM) Bahrain. Her commitment to her country was unwavering. She was a source of inspiration to all who knew her.

In her retirement, Glenda organized many Logistics Curling Bonspiel at 19 Wing Comox. She volunteered as a judge at multiple Briers and Scotties. She was an immense supporter of numerous charities including, the OSCAR Fund, the KITTY Cat P.A.L.S., the REHAB Services at the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation, and the Sandra Schmirler Foundation. Glenda was also an avid Canadian Football League fan, always cheering for her favorite team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. She also adored sitting and relaxing with her beloved cat Missy.

To her close friends and neighbours at "The Sandpiper" in Courtenay; thank you for their caring, thoughtfulness and help; it is greatly appreciated. Finally, to her long-time friends, Guylaine Plamondon, Coleen Russell and (Nadene Brown, who was present at Glenda's' passing), thank you for all your help.

Glenda's legacy of service, love and dedication will forever be cherished by her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life for Glenda will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Glenda's memory to the OSCAR Fund (offering subsidized care for animal recovery) at the Van Isle Veterinary Hospital located in Courtenay, BC, the KITTY Car P.A.L.S. located in Courtenay, BC, the Sandra Schmirler Foundation, or The Royal Jubilee Hospital, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), at 1952 Bay Street, Victoria, BC.
