April 13, 1937 - January 26, 2021
Greg passed away in the early hours of January 26, 2021 at our local hospital. He succumbed to a combination of complicated illnesses, peacefully and without pain. Pat, Chris, Monica, Keith, Darion, Stryder, Jesse and Roman, along with an extensive blended family of sisters, nephews, nieces, and some very dear friends, will miss him very much!
Greg's quiet, reserved, "sit back and assess the situation" attitude usually lead to a subtle humorous interaction on his part. He had multiple adventures to his life, including his love for ships and the experience of building a 100 plus foot Barque, the "Monte Cristo"; from laying the keel beam to creating the moulded teak cabin finishing and carving the wheel; then sailing it for its inaugural sail under the Second Narrows Bridge in Vancouver.
To his family's surprise, they recently discovered his Private Pilot license of 1969. He was an artist in his own quiet way: wood carving, building structures without plans, doing renovations with meticulous precision, pride in creating fabulous gardens from the bare earth; leather work, painting, sketching and cooking.
He was an avid golfer well into his retirement years. Greg loved fishing in both the ocean and in recent years, the Cariboo lakes.
Travel adventures with Pat included long distance motorcycle camping trips, a few lengthy winters in Mexico, then moved on to RV'ing and many camping trips with local friends, which became the highlight of annual events.
He adored his little Dachsies, Daisy and Gunnar, and his hands held a special tenderness in handling animals. Greg and his granddaughter, Darion Hamilton, shared their Birthday always with the favorite chocolate cake.
His circle of friends and family was tight, and respected his creative abilities and his humour. Once he had determined you were loyal and "clicked", you were there for life!
