Passed away peacefully November 6, 2006 in Courtenay, B.C. at the home of her daughter after a brief battle with cancer.
Greta was predeceased by her husband Joseph Arthur in 1979, brother Ronald Stephenson, and companion Leonard Maybin.? She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Dr. Janice Harvey (Dr. Surendar Kilam) of Courtenay, B.C.; grandchildren: Andrea Kilam-Higgo (Kevin) of the Cayman Islands, Mark Kilam (Andrea) of Calgary, Maya Kilam of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Amy Kilam of Waterloo, Ontario.? She is also survived by mother-in-law Kathleen Harvey; brother Edwin Stephenson (Marjorie); nephew Sam and nieces Diane and Lisa and their families.
Greta was born February 8, 1930 in Scunthorpe, England.? In 1948 she married Arthur and together with their daughter emigrated to Canada in 1957 and established a home in Calgary, Alberta; where she lived for many happy years.? She was employed at Price Waterhouse for 26 years, taking early retirement at age 55 in order to spend more time in her beloved garden.? In June of 2006 she made the decision to leave Calgary and purchased a new home on Vancouver Island to be closer to family and maintain a garden year-round.? When not in the garden, Nanny was enjoying a good book, classical music, or a Stampeder football game and was eagerly anticipating the birth of her first great- grandchild.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
