GUENTHER BRINGS

March 12, 1926 – June 7, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father/husband, Guenther Brings, who passed away at Campbell River Hospital.

He was born in Dusseldorf, Germany and moved to Canada with his wife Rosa in 1953. He was a teacher in Montreal and when he retired, moved to the Comox Valley in 1989. He volunteered for many years delivering meals on wheels for St. Joseph’s Hospital. He built beautiful doll houses that were raffled off to raise money for Glacier View Lodge. He was very knowledgeable with Mac computers and volunteered his services teaching people how to use their computers.

Guenther is predeceased by his sister Annie and grandson Lamar. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 56 years, Rosa, and children, Barbara, Michael (Dawn), Alexander (Louise) and Claudia (Bill Boham), Julie Forgues, his sister Lottie in Germany and his 7 grandchildren (Alan, Alexander, Daniel, Emerson, Michelle, Tirah and Melissa) and his extended family in Europe.

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Salmon Point, the Oyster River Volunteer Fire Dept., BC Ambulance Services, the emergency staff, and the 3rd floor nursing staff and physicians at Campbell River Hospital for their wonderful and compassionate care.

Memorial Mass in Guenther’s memory will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Saturday, June 12th @ 11:00 AM.

Because of Guenther’s great love for all animals, for those wishing, donations in Guenther’s memory to the local SPCA would be appreciated.
