Hanh (Hanna) Tiep Murray

"Hanna" was born February 3, 1936, in San Wui, Kwangtung, China. She passed peacefully on Friday morning, January 27, 2023, in Comox, B.C. Hanna was the devoted wife for 27 years of Donald Angus Grant Murray who passed in 2010. She was the much-loved stepmother to Ian Murray and Frances (Nanaimo, B.C.) and Andrew Murray and Cheryl Yakem (Uxbridge, ON). Loving Grandma to Kyla, Taylor, Brendan, Gavin and Claire and as "Auntie" to Eva Lam (Toronto), and extended relation to Don's nieces' Ellen, Leah-Ann, Marsha and nephew Ken and their respective spouses and children.
Hanna spent her early years between Hong Kong and Saigon learning and practicing various nursing roles. She immigrated to Canada in 1974 and worked hard to succeed in Toronto. She served for a time as caregiver to Don's mother (Dorothy) and love ensued. Subsequently, they enjoyed a wonderful life together leading to retirement in Punta Gorda, Florida, Alliston, Ontario and ultimately Comox, B.C. where they settled in 2006. Those who knew her will recall her passion as a relentless caregiver and her commitment to her church and community. She will be missed by all who knew her.
As per Hanna's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service is scheduled for February 2 at noon in the Comox Valley Funeral Home.
A further memorial will take place later in the year when she is to be interred at the family plot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto.
