Harold Leon Madeiros, passed away on October 8th, 2008 at the age of 82, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born to James & Ann Madeiros in Bermuda where he spent his childhood. In 1952 he immigrated to Canada, where he met the love of his life Shirley. They went on to spend the next 55 happy years together raising their family. In 1968 Harold returned to his beloved Bermuda with his family in tow and remained there until 1992. It was then when he retired and with Shirley returned to Canada, settling in Comox to be closer to his children & grandchildren. The greatest joys in Harold’s life were spending time with his family, his passion for gardening and his weekly golf.
Predeceased by his parents and sister Flo Ray of Bermuda. Survived by wife Shirley, brothers Graham & Sutherland of Bermuda, sister Marjorie Bartlett of New Westminster, his daughter Heather Moss and husband John, son James Madeiros and wife Denise, daughter Wendy Meede and husband Bill, and his 6 grandchildren: Laura, Shawn, Shannon, Jenne, Courtenay and Nick.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Piercy’s Mt. Washington Funeral Home, Courtenay BC with Pastor Dave Koleba officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr Potter Cogan, all the medical staff, ambulance attendants and home care workers that took such great care of Harold.
