November 17, 1934 – September 28, 2016

The family of Harvey Edmund Schiml are sad to announce his passing on September 28, 2016 at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. Harvey was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth, his father Bernard, brother Bob and sister-in-law Sue. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Mary, son Trevor (Laura), daughters, Marcia (Kerry) and Nomi (Steve), grandchildren, Jessica, Emily, Kathleen (Trevor), Colin, Jared (Marcia), Ian and Sophie (Nomi), his brother Norm (Sue-deceased), sister-in-law Denise, brothers-in-law Fred (Wendy), and Joe (Marlaine) as well as many other relatives and friends.

Harvey was born in Hearne, SK and grew up in Avonlea, SK. In October 1963 he married Mary Schweiger and shortly after moved to Hudson Bay, SK where Harvey was employed as head electrician for Simpson Timber. It was here that they raised their family. Harvey was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his many hunting and fishing trips with friends and family. In 1989, Harvey and Mary moved to Hinton, AB where Harvey was employed with Gregg River. They retired in April 1996 to Denman Island, BC. Harvey tackled everything with passion and could do anything he put his mind to. In his retirement, he loved gardening and puttering in his garage and took great pride in his beautiful yard and woodworking projects. Harvey was a devoted Rider fan and followed the games and Rider forums with enthusiasm. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Courtenay, B.C.
