Helen Judith (Judy) Ford

Heaven has a new and beautiful angel.
Family and friends of Helen Judith (Judy) Ford are grieving as her beautiful, bright, loving spirit left earth recently to be reunited with her sister Marilyn and her Mom. They are no doubt baking up a storm making their famous Mrs P's oatcakes and drinking lots of tea. Judy passed away on 29 July 2022 after losing her very short battle with cancer. Judy was born on Nov 25, 1942 in Shediac, NB although soon after moved to Halifax, NS. In 1962, she met her dashing and charming pilot, Jack Ford who swept her off her feet while she was working as a coat check girl in the infamous Captains Cabin. Jack was a pilot in the Royal Canadian Navy and that meant they moved around the country and had lots of exciting adventures in Canada, US and abroad.
She leaves behind many, many people who will miss her beautiful smile, her amazing grace and beauty and also her kind, compassionate, giving and loving heart. She is survived by her husband Jack, of 59 years; her three adored and cherished daughters Tammy Joudrey (Andy), Tracey Ford (Johnathan) and Julie Ford; and she will be deeply missed by her three beloved grandchildren Brianna, Noah (Jenn) and Taylor. There was nothing that Judy wouldn't do for her daughters. She was their light, their rock, their saviour and they are heartbroken at her passing. Julie, her youngest daughter, was Mom's caregiver for the last few years and she provided her loving, compassionate care and a level of patience that was very admirable to see.
She also leaves behind her brother Kevin Pelley (Bea), Michael Pelley and her niece Sheri (Doug), her nephews Stephen (Sue), Shawn, Jerrod (Wendy) and James as well as her half sister Janice Rankin. She is predeceased by her beautiful mom and sister, Marjorie Pelley and Marilyn Royston.
Judy was an incredibly gifted artisan who spent years making beautiful crafts for her family and friends to enjoy. We all fondly remember the lopey sweaters she knit, the apple head dolls, the quilts, the very fragile but gorgeous hand painted eggs, and she could often be found sewing dancing and figure skating outfits for her daughters. Due to the many posting her and Jack had, Judy lived in such places as Shearwater, NS; Greenwood, NS; Nictaux Falls, NS; Ottawa, ON; Summerside, PE; Providence, Rhode Island; Oakville, ON; Victoria, BC and of course also spent time with Jack in the Middle East. Judy stayed home raising her girls when they were young, and then she went on to own a successful hair salon, The Picotee in Summerside, PEI. While living in Courtenay, BC, she was a loving, kind and wonderful care giver. She enjoyed many hours volunteering at the Sid Williams Theater with her best friend Marie.
Judy was a Mom, Wife, Nanny, Friend, Sister, Daughter, Auntie, Care giver, Business Owner but we will all remember her as a very kind, funny, loving, generous, strong and wonderful woman who will be missed every day. Judy was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a number of years ago but that awful disease didn't touch her soul or her spirit and remained true to who she was until the moment she passed. In her last weeks she was surrounded by her family, friends, painting, music, dogs, time in the garden, dancing and endless love.
Donations can be made to the St. Josephs Hospital The Views, Courtenay, BC or the Canadian Alzheimer's Society. The family would like to send a special thank you to the amazing and wonderful nursing and care staff at the Views who looked after her with dignity and kindness.
Cremation has taken place. Judy's Celebration of Life will take place at CFB Comox Officers Mess on Sun, 28 Aug at from 2-4pm.
