Herman Peter Barton

October 23, 1918 to March 19, 2007

Decorated WW II veteran. Served overseas 1941 – 1946 in 13th light field ambulance transport section C.C.A.M.C.A. and dispatch duties.

Builder of great things large and small from Canadian roadways to furniture and log cabins. A teller of great stories, Herman will be missed by all who knew him.

He leaves behind loving wife Yolanda, daughters Catherine and Angela, grandson Jason, son-in-law Bob, sister Mabel, brother-in-law Bill and sister-in-law Pat.

Yolanda and her family wish to express their deep appreciation to the caring staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital as well as Dr. Gornall, Dr. Millar, Dr. Bryant and their medical staff. Thanks also to Chaplain Gordon Carter, Father Anthony and Pastor Brian Ducedre as well as the Filipino community for their support.

Prayers will be offered at 6:30pm on Sunday March 25, 2007 from the Chapel of Piercy’s – Mt. Washington Funeral Home with viewing to follow.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 26 at 11:00am from Christ the King Catholic Church, interment to follow in the Courtenay Civic Cemetery. Father Paul and Father Anthony Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers donations in Herman’s memory may be made to the Courtenay Legion Pipe Band, 367 Cliffe Ave. Courtenay BC, V9N 2J1
