In Loving Memory ~
Hilde was born in Duderstadt (Germany) on November 12, 1920. Raised in Germany and Bolivia, she set out as a young woman to Argentina, where she married her beloved Rolf Stolting. In 1955 Hilde and Rolf immigrated to Canada and started their family in Toronto and then moved to Montreal. After Rolf's Royal Bank of Canada assignment drew the family back to Germany in 1973 and his subsequent passing from cancer, Hilde at the age of 80 decided to move back to Canada to be close to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in the Comox Valley. With her open, friendly, and curious personality she quickly made friends, joined a music group to play her recorder in the Florence Filberg Center, was a regular at the D'Esterre Seniors' Centre for over 20 years taking her biweekly exercise classes and went for daily walks often together with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Hilde passed away peacefully in her Comox home, surrounded by family, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the age of 104.
Left to cherish her memory are: her children; Ellen (Rick), Peter (Cathy) and Walter (Tatjana). Grandchildren; Katarina (Kevin), Mike (Courtnea), Jeffrey, Vicki (Cody), Rob (Nicole), Erica (Keith), Victoria (Trenton), Thomas and her great grandchildren Dax, Lake, Kaia, Enzo, Clover, and Rylen.
The Stolting family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Tsveta Nikova and Dr. Tanja Daws for their compassionate care!
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Filberg Heritage Lodge & Park Association or the BC SPCA in Comox Valley would honor Hilde's love of nature and community.
Condolences may be sent to Walter at stolting@shaw.ca or to the family at: 2926 Back Road Courtenay BC,V9N 9G9
At Hilde's request, there will be no formal service.
