Ida Colleen Jolly

April 24, 1933 - May 09, 2007

(74 years)

Ida passed away peacefully in her sleep at home the evening of May 9, 2007 (three weeks before her 55th wedding anniversary). Her body was just tired of being sick.

The following hand written obituary was found by one of her children. Ida’s family fully agreed to publish it specifically as written by her.

Jolly - Ida Colleen (Sammie Scott)

Born April 24, 1933 at Vancouver General Hospital to Sarah and John Scott, youngest of five children. Spent childhood at the family home in the west end of Vancouver and attended Lord Roberts Elementary School and the old King George High School located on Burrard Street across from St. Paul’s Hospital.

Ida had a beautiful singing voice and was the youngest member of the Vancouver Symphony Chorus during the late 1940’s. She was also a member of the Greater Vancouver Operatic Society and an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 50 years (she joined while living in Sitka, Alaska).

In 1952 she married her childhood sweetheart, Edwin. Together they lived in and traveled to many parts of the world before settling in the Comox Valley 20 years ago.

Ida leaves husband (and best friend) Ed, plus the rest of her family; daughters Patricia and Adrienne, sons Ed (Nadine) and Bill (Donna) and eleven grandchildren, Daniel and Sarah Basso, Geoffrey, Todd and Kate Murie, Kaylen, Liam and Cameron Jolly and Kevin, Michael and Linda Jolly.

Intuitively she inspired and motivated others with genuine compassion and unconditional love. Her presence and support will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
