In Loving Memory ~

Ilene Paulovich was born on May 28, 1930, in Fort Vermillion, Alberta. Life was hard in that cold, often isolated community. At the age of 17 she moved to Manning, Alberta where she worked in a hotel. It was there that she met her husband-to-be George Paulovich. They were married in June 1948.

George and Ilene took over the family farm east of North Star, Alberta. They worked the mixed farm for the next 28 years. Life was hard on the farm but they persevered by working together. In 1974, they moved from Manning to Courtenay. Here they built a relationship with many people in the community.

Ilene worked as a waitress at the Arbutus Hotel restaurant for years. She loved her job there, not surprising as she was a very personable lady. At the same time George and Ilene built 4 homes and Ilene was involved in every aspect of construction.

After retirement, George and Ilene enjoyed 20 years spending the winters in Arizona in their motorhome. After a very full life, Ilene passed away at the age of 94.

She is survived by her husband George, son Kerry and his family. A Memorial Service was held on September 6th at the Comox Valley Funeral Home.

She now resides with her Savior, who she loved very much. We will miss her.
