Irma passed away peacefully at Fischer Place in 100 Mile House on June 9, 2005 after a brief illness. Born to George & Maria Albert in Bender, Saskatchewan, Irma was raised on a farm as the youngest of a blended family of 17 children, after her mother’s passing, and her father’s subsequent re-marriage. Irma married William Harold Dayman in 1928 and homesteaded with Harold near Lintlaw, Saskatchewan until moving to Victoria in 1943 where Harold worked in the shipyards. Irma & Harold moved up Island first to Merville in 1945, and then to Courtenay where Irma was well known for her work with the Courtenay Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Old Age Pensioners, and the Canadian Daughters. Irma moved to 100 Mile House in 1990, and became a resident of Fischer Place in January of this year. Pre-deceased by all of her siblings, Irma is survived by her eldest son Earl (Elsie) Dayman of Winnipeg, daughter Gertrude Storie of Courtenay, and youngest son Joseph (Glynis) Dayman of Bridge Lake. Irma is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. She will be missed by family and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Street for his many years of caring for mom. Thank you also to the staff of Fischer Place & 100 Mile House Hospice workers for all you did for mom. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to 100 Mile House Funeral Service Ltd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 100 Mile District Hospice Palliative Care Society, Bag 399, 100 Mile House, B.C. V0K 2E0 or a charity of your choice. At mom’s request no service is planned.
