CAMERON, Jack (John) Edmond

1919 - 2010?

On 28 February 2010 Jack passed away peacefully in Comox BC after a long and well lived life.

Jack was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on 02 July 1919. Jack was raised in Winnipeg with his brother Frank, and sisters Agnes, Margaret and Edith (Didi). His father Wilmont passed in 1921 and his mother Edith passed in 1977.

He served with the Reserves 1937-1939 and joined the RCAF in 1940 to participate in the war effort. Jack met his soul mate Loretta in Montreal and wed on 26 Oct 1944. They lived in Winnipeg, until 1996, when they moved to Comox BC to be close to their son and grandchildren. They enjoyed many years of adventures and friendship until his beloved “Queen” passed on 29 March 2002. Jack continued on with his family and friends around the country, in the Comox Valley and the special times and friends at Berwick (Comox) during the past few years.

Jack was a devoted husband, father, granddad and special friend. He was known for his patriotism, his military support (with 2 sons and 3 grandsons doing military service), his time with the CPR (Weston Shops), his involvement with youth through scouting and cadets, his willingness to help everyone and anyone and most of all his woodworking abilities including his toy cars, planes, whistles and stools. He could build just about anything out of wood and didn’t hesitate to share his talents with his friends.

Jack is survived by his two sons Allan from Ottawa and Brian from Courtenay. He will be sadly missed by his daughter in laws Judy and Sheila, his grandchildren / spouses Heather / Chris from Comox, David / Angela and Neil / Sarah from New Brunswick, Keith / Amanda from Brussels and Amy, Brent and Shana from Ottawa, as well as great-grandchildren Nathan, Matthew, Holly and Rachel.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Berwick Comox BC at 1400 hrs on 19 April 2010. A private family gathering will be held to scatter the remains of Jack and his “Queen” Loretta. Cards with special memories can be sent to the family c/o Brian Cameron 2650 Sheraton Rd, Courtenay, BC, V9N 0A3
