JACOB FRANKLIN “BUSTER” ROUECHE

June 7, 1918 – December 16, 2007

JF “Buster” Roueche passed away on Dec 16th, 2007 at the age of 89. He was born in Gleichen, Alberta.  He was predeceased by Anna, his wife of 66 years, eldest son Stirling and brother Jim.  Left to miss him are sister Pauline (Wyn), brother John, son Rip (Shirley), son Wally (Claire) daughter Bonny, grandchildren Troy, Sherry, Clay, Ryan and Pepper, great-grandchildren Morgan, Alex, Claudia, Chaylyn, Channel and Dash.

After serving in England during WWII Buster remained with the RCAF until 1965.  He and Anna retired to Bowen Island – a huge change after military life.  Buster continued to work until he was 72, the last several years as manager of the Bowen Building Centre.  He and Anna were very involved with the Bowen Legion in which he was a founding member.  Buster was also instrumental in creating a Memorial Garden on Bowen and was honoured as Citizen of the Year.  He and Anna built their dream home “Trails End” which they loved and where they entertained many friends. In 2002 Buster moved to Valley Vista – a place where he always felt lucky to have great neighbours and where he really enjoyed the activities at the Club House– especially the crib nights.  Buster appreciated the friendship and company offered by many of Bonny’s friends.  An afternoon spent at a Casino with friends was a delight for him.

Buster’s generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to his family.  He lived his life with love, integrity and bravery.  He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA in his memory.
