Jackie passed peacefully with her loving husband Mel by her side on November 14, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents Douglas and Janet Heavenor, brother Bob Heavenor, son Lloyd Sword and step-son Brad Jackson. Jackie is survived by her husband Mel Jackson, son Michael (Maureen) Sword, step-son Greg (Joanne) Jackson; grandchildren Travis Jackson and Tyler Jackson; brothers Bruce Heavenor and Garth (Kerri) Heavenor; sisters Marjorie (Dave) Sutherland and Dorothy (Kevin) Wells, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Jackie was an Associate Member of the Legion. She was a proud founder of "Cancer de Mama Clinic" in Mexico and enjoyed curling with the Courtenay Curling Club. Also, in her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Jackie touched so many people throughout her life. She lived life to the fullest. Wherever Jackie went she lit up the room. She was selfless, putting the needs of others ahead of her own, even at the end of her life. As the Founder of a support group for women living with breast cancer in Mexico, "Cancer de Mama Clinic," she leaves a lasting legacy.
