In loving memory ~
Jim passed away peacefully in his adopted home of Puerto Escondido, Mexico after a difficult battle with cancer. He had his good friends Carlos and Israel by his side and who supported him through his illness. The family thanks them for their kindness.
He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his mother Dorothea (Dot), two brothers, Don and Rob (Lorraine), his son Derek and Derek's mother Wendy Nissen, plus many relatives, friends and amigos. He was pre- deceased by his Father Bob.
Following graduation from Western Canada High School in Calgary, Jim moved to Vancouver Island, living in the Saratoga Beach area and working at the Elk Falls Mill. He moved to Mexico in 2016. He always loved fishing and spent his final years living where the weather was beautiful and the fishing was great. Jim was the kind of guy who came in with a limit on days when everyone else was skunked.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Jim's ashes will be scattered on the blue Pacific ocean offshore Puerto Escondido, among the dolphins, the turtles and the whales. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Oyster River Enhancement Society, Box 93, Black Creek BC V9J 1K8 in Jim's honour would be appreciated.
