COMER

James Hugh

April 18, 1930 - January 7, 2009

My Dad died tragically in a car accident on January the 7th, 2009 He was 78 years old.

Dad started his career early on the tugboats as a marine engineer. Later he worked for the department of highways ferries, later BC Ferries. At age 40 dad went back to school for his chiefs ticket. His career with the ferries spanned over thirty years. In 1990 he retired from Little River terminal. It was then he & mom travelled many times to Arizona as they both loved the sun. Dad was born in Stewart, BC and said all it did there was rain and he hated the rain so for many years they followed the sun. My dad loved to gamble so was happy when Courtenay opened theirs. He would call and tell me of his winnings but never wanted to talk about, what he’d lost. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley in 1996 and his only son Kevin Comer in 2002. Dad is survived by his daughter Kelly Olson (Pete), grandsons Jonathon, Tyler and Brayden Olson. His granddaughter Karissa Comer and nephew Stuart Bisset.

Dads family wishes to thank all our friends and boys for their love and support once again during this difficult time. All the flowers and food were really appreciated. Thank you everyone. Dad requrested no service.

It was you and me dad, I will miss you forever.
