HEALY, Janet Antoinette (nee Marshall) died peacefully in her sleep at Oceanview Lodge in Comox on March 30, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Charles, her brother Alec Marshall, and her sister, Anna Walker.

She is survived by her three children: Thomas, Kathleen, and Patricia, her granddaughters Erin and Nicola, numerous nieces and nephews, and many good friends.

She was born July 29, 1920 in Nanaimo, and returned to Vancouver Island to make her home in Courtenay in January 2007.

Since moving to the Comox Valley, Janet made many wonderful friends through the Comox Valley Seniors Centre at d’Esterre House, which she considered her “home away from home”, and where she participated in carpet bowling, Bingo, exercise classes, and aerobics. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, baking, and knitting. She was known for her kindness and generosity; no one ever left her home empty-handed, as she shared home-made cookies, jam, and other baked goods. She loved to travel, enjoyed trips through the UK, Europe, the US and Canada, and was always ready for a road trip with no fixed destination. She loved to visit thrift, secondhand, and antique stores and always had an eye out for a hidden treasure.

The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital- with particular thanks and appreciation to the fine nurses, aides and staff at Oceanview Lodge for their kindness and loving care.

All who remember Janet are invited to a celebration of her life, to be held at d’Esterre House, 1801 Beaufort Ave, Comox on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Janet Healy to Oceanview at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox.
