April 7, 1920 - November 2, 2014

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Janet Ostrander. Janet was born in Airdrie, Scotland April 7, 1920, the eldest of four children. In 1929 her family immigrated to Ottawa, Canada. In Ottawa she continued her education, completing her high school diploma in Commerce at the top of her class.

Later, on a blind date, she met the love of her life and best friend Howard. Janet enjoyed being a military wife, travelling throughout Canada and the world. Janet loved to shop, and never missed a chance to go out for lunch. She was an avid bridge player, enjoying her afternoon ladies bridge clubs and evenings playing bridge with Howard and friends. Those who knew Janet appreciated her speaking her mind, never leaving any doubts where she stood on a topic.

A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister, aunt and friend - she will be deeply missed. She leaves to mourn daughter Judith Mae, granddaughter Kristi (Dale), great-grandsons Grady and Carson (who were the sun beams of her life), as well as many friends. Predeceased by husband Howard and grandson Kent, parents, sisters and brother.

May she find joy in Heaven.

The family would like give a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Harris for all his care and compassion over the years and to the Nurses of third floor for all their kindness in her last days.

Flowers gratefully declined. Donations made in her memory to Children's Hospital Cancer Research would be appreciated.

The Rev. Maggie Enwright will conduct a Celebration of Life followed by a Tea in the Church Hall. The service will be held on Monday November 17 at 1:30pm in the Comox United Church, 250 Beach St. Comox, BC.
