JEAN DAWSON

Dec. 11, 1922 - Feb. 7, 2008

Jean was born in Parksville Mona Jean Shaw. She is predeceased by her husband Charlie Dawson. They had two children Faye (Ken) Didsbury, Alberta and Sid (Barb) Courtenay, BC; grandchildren Bill Parker (Melissa), Wendy (Don) Guilbeault, Didsbury, Jason Dawson (Dawn), Gerry Dawson (Jaime) Courtenay, Korina Dawson (Chris) Wetaskiwin. She also had 6 great-grandchildren Debbie, Chris and Mason of Didsbury, Dominique, Maddison and Hunter of Courtenay; sister-in-law Vernice (Norm) Nanaimo, brothers Peter (Mary), Murray; sisters Dorothy (Ernie) and Patricia; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother Alex and two sisters Daphne and Ruth.

Jean was a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star #68 in Parksville. She had many acquaintances and friends as she traveled to many meetings with the OES. She was also a volunteer at the Therapeutic Riding in Courtenay something she really enjoyed doing. She participated in Walk-a-Thons raising money for various charities as well. Her greatest love was gardening which was evident to her last day. She had her own garden spot at the Nanaimo Travelers Lodge which was packed with flowers, and inside her room bulbs for this spring were already growing in containers, along with a window full of African Violets and other house plants.

She was very small but mighty, her spunk carried a charm that all who knew her will remember.

There will be no service at her request, her ashes will rest with Charlie who she missed dearly and we hope she will rest in peace when they are together again. First Memorial in Nanaimo entrusted with the arrangements.
