Jean Leiter (nee Krutow ) - It is with sadness the family of Jean Leiter announces that she passed away peacefully in Courtenay Hospital on Nov. 7, 2017.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Major Arnulf "Arnie" Leiter (R.C.A.F.) and she is survived by her son, Randy (Linda) Leiter of Ashcroft, BC, Don (Cindy) Leiter of Rossland, BC and Rick Leiter of Prince George, BC; daughter Kathy MacDonald; granddaughter, Kayla Jean Mac Donald of Courtenay, BC; brother William Krutow (Bernice) of Loon Lake, Sask., and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Jean immigrated at one year of age from the Ukraine in 1927 with her family. She was raised on a remote farm in Saskatchewan, taught school briefly, and later met and married Arnie Leiter.

Jean was a member and elder of St. George's United Church for many years.

She was a member of the Canadian Daughter's for years, enjoyed marching in the annual Canada Day Parade with the Canadian Daughter's each July 1st

After Arnie retired and children were moved out, Jean was a dedicated volunteer in the Comox Valley community, some of which included the Filberg Senior Centre and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Jean enjoyed family, travelling with Arnie and relatives (China, Cuba, Hawaii, California), bridge playing with friends, crosswords, volunteering, and attending music and other cultural community events, and one of the great joys in her life was her grand daughter Kayla.

Flowers gratefully declined. Donations made in Jean's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

A celebration of Jean's life will be held on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 at St. George's United Church.
