In Loving Memory ~

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanette Eva Koopmans on May 24, 2025 at the young age of 63.

Jeanette was born on March 14, 1962 in Ocean Falls BC to Johanna and Jelte Koopmans.

Jeanette passed away peacefully in her sleep after many years of batting a decline in her health after a debilitating stroke on January 1, 2022.

Jeanette and her family lived in Ocean Falls until 1966 and then they moved to Vancouver Island where they resided in Black Creek. Her father Jelte got a transfer to work at the Campbell River Pulp Mill. Jeanette remained an Island girl living in the Comox Valley as well as Victoria up until her passing.

She has an immense and unconditional love for her family and an unending generosity that could be seen in the way she cared and supported the many people in her life.

Jeanette had the biggest heart. She was vibrant and had a big love and passions towards dogs. In 2008 she adopted a puppy named Chance. He was a big black standard poodle was the sweetest, most loving playful dog imaginable. Chance was one of Jeanette's greatest joys. Their bond was truly special, and Chance brought so much happiness to her life. Whether it was taking long walks together or simply enjoying each other's company, Jeanette's love for him was evident to all that knew her.

Jeanette also loved playing bingo with her friends and loved giving rides to people that needed help. She was also an amazing cook and was known for her delicious soups.

Jeanette's legacy will live on through the countless memories she created with her family and friends.

Her spirit, generosity and love will be deeply missed but never ever forgotten, she will always be in our thoughts and hearts forever.

Her departure is gravely felt by her entire family and friends who loved her deeply.

She was predeceased by her mother Johanna, and her father Jelte Koopmans, brothers; John, Gerald and Henry Koopmans.

She is survived by her sister Bernarda Truscott (Gary), nieces; Tammy Brooks (Steve), Dianna Truscott (Cary), Bonnie Truscott (Robert). Her nephew Benjamin Koopman (Arrielle) and great nieces; Madelyn Kerr, Sianna Brooks and Raegan Marryatt and great nephews; Ryland Kerr and Laurens Koopmans.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jeanette on June 14th from 2-5pm at

22 Mitchell Road, Courtenay BC.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the local SPCA. This is a cause Jeanette felt deeply towards for the hopes of animals finding loving homes.
