Jeannette Margaret Hawes

April 13, 1924 - August 28, 2019
With loving memories and heavy hearts, the family of Jeanette Margaret Hawes sadly announce her passing on Wednesday August 28, 2019 in Courtenay BC. She was born in Kamloops BC on April 13th,1924 and was predeceased by her husband Jack (the love of her life) in 1995.
Jeanette is survived by her 5 children, Ken (Anna) Mason, Rob (Julie)Hawes, Sheryl Klinick, Donna (Dwight) Anderson and Susanne (Grant) Armstrong, as well as her extended family Greg (Ollie) Hawes and their children.
Jeanette was "Grama" to Dennis, Leon, Leticia, David, Desiree, Darren, Ben, John, Tim, Bob, Jennifer, Paul, Alex and Randy. She was Great Grama "GG" to 11 children and Great Great Grama to 3 more. Jeanette was also loving referred to as "Grama" by many of our friends in the Comox Valley (many of which were the lucky recipients of her baking, especially at Christmas time).
Mom moved to Victoria at a young age. In her early 20's, she worked at Northwestern Creamery in Victoria delivering milk by horse and wagon to customers in Oak Bay. Mom's love of children and teaching led to her open her own Kindergarten/Daycare (Little Jack Horner) in Victoria in the early 60's. Her love of travel took her to Disneyland (23 times), Mexico, England, Hawaii and Panama. There were also many "eventful" Snowbird trips south and across Canada with Jack. Mom also had a passion for gardening and would share plants and gardening tips with everyone.
No matter where Mom lived or went, she brought joy, love and kindness to those around her and she will be greatly missed.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Susan Hunter, the Nurses, Care Workers and Staff at Mountainview at St Joseph's in Comox who were the "Angels among us" especially during her last two weeks.
As per Mom's wishes, we will be holding a "Celebration of Life" Tea on Saturday September 14th from 1-3 in the Evergreen Lounge at the Filberg Center (411 Anderton Ave, Courtenay).
