January 1, 1929 - January 27, 2021
It is with great sadness to announce of the passing Jeannine on January 27, 2021 in Courtenay. She was born in Powell River on January 1, 1929.
During her life she worked at many retail businesses in the Valley after moving here from Powell River where she worked at the Roxy Theatre and fell in love with that era's movies, especially Shirley Temple movies.
She met my father and they married in May 1953. They raised three children while working at stores like, Lavers, Willemar Grocery, Suite 16, Reitmans, 5th St Style Shop (with her two aunts, Ruth & Dot Dixon and mother, Hilda Barrass) and ran the Déjà vu consignment store.
She also volunteered at Arden Elementary as a teacher's aide for a number of years. When she "retired" she volunteered at St. Joseph's Thrift Shop, pricing donated clothing for the store.
People I meet always have so many good things to say about her and I know she will be missed by many.
Mom is predeceased by her parents, Fred and Hilda Barrass and her brother Ken Barrass.
Mom is survived and missed by her sister, Beverly Babcock, sons, Ron and Steve (Mona), daughter, Heather, grandsons, Aaron and Mitchell, granddaughter, Ayslin, great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Paisley, Autumn & Xavier and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no service by Mom's request, a small family gathering at gravesite only will be held at a later date.
Donations to the St. Joseph's Thrift Shop would be appreciated. Please join us in remembering Mom by visiting our memorial at www.piercysmtwashingtonfuneral.com
