Jessie Geraldine

September 23, 1927 - February 18, 2008

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Gerry at Inglewood Care Centre in West Vancouver, B.C.

Gerry was raised on Hornby Island. At the age of 16 she left with her twin sister Jean looking for work and found a new life on Vancouver Island. In 1951 she married Donovan and settled in the Comox Valley where she raised her four children. Gerry moved to Burnaby for a short time but returned to her roots where she spent many memorable times with family. In the end her decision was to live in North Vancouver where she could be closer to her children and grandchildren.

She led a quiet life inspired by nature and the written word, particularly poetry. She had a great appreciation of art, good wine and good food. Gerry had much respect for our pioneers especially the women and believed in hard work, honesty, good manners and respect for others.

Gerry leaves behind her daughters Juanita (Roger) now in Comox, Donelda (Michael) from Squamish, Laura from North Vancouver, and her son Daryll (Linda) from Port Moody and grandchildren: Nathen, Lucas and Mikylla. Gerry is survived by her sister Louise (Joe) Luster, brothers Don (Linda) and Russell (Hetty) Erikson, brother-in-law Edward Wadland, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was pre-deceased by her mother Jessie French, brother Roy Erikson, twin sister Jean Wadland and ex-husband Donovan.

Another passing from a very special era.
