In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Jimmy Dimitri Lalic.
He was the most loving husband, father and a friend to so many in the Comox Valley. He was the kindest man and made a huge impact in everyone's lives.
Jimmy was the son of Marika and Rajko Lalic and resided in the Comox Valley for most of his life, graduating from G.P Vanier Secondary and then from North Island College- where he also taught others his delicious Greek recipes. There is so much to be said about Jimmy, he was the president of the Comox Valley Kin Club and he founded and organized the Robbie Thompson Ball Tournament. You could always hear his infectious laugh and smile coming out his catering and delicatessen shop, Cloves. So many of us will miss waving to him from the window and being greeted in his shop with his welcoming presence.
Jimmy's passion for food started at a young age thanks to his mother, he loved that a hot meal could bring people together and was passionate about his Greek culture. He worked alongside his family and learned many things from others within the Valley's restaurant scene. He learned some of his skills from his Aunt Aida and Uncle Tony who owned the Seaside pub in Royston, his Aunt Tasoula Stravropoulos (Brown Derby) and Uncle Bill (Bill's Pizza).
His memory will be carried on by his blended family: his loving wife Sophie, and children Marika (Kyle), Gregory, Cedric (Hailey), Danika and Serenity. His brother Alex, and his children Tayler, Alyssa, Aidan and Zach and his Aunt Katina and cousins Peter, Barbra (Jeff), and cousin (who Jimmy was more like a brother to) Kitsa, his godchildren, Marina Stravropoulos, Jeramie Marriott, Ashley Robinson, Trevor Marriott, Vincent Ashdown, Thomas Ashdown, Owen Ashdown and the rest of his extended family.
A Celebration of Jimmy's Life will be held in the new year on Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 1:00pm- 6:00pm at the Native Son's Hall in Courtenay.
To keep Jimmy's memory alive, we request that remembrances be made in the form of acts of kindness towards others.
