It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Joan McCluskey on May 29, beloved wife of the late Leo Joseph Fenton (Joe) McCluskey.
Joan is survived by her five cherished children: Lee (Shirley), Ellen (James), Susan (Ahmet), Jo-Ann (Bill deceased) and Carolyn (Ron); nine loving grandchildren: Erin (Eli), Shannon (Andrew), Ryan (Angelica), Brendan, Connor, Aylin, Sara, Kieran and Sasha and three beautiful great grand children: Henry, Cole and Ashe. Joan also leaves behind her dear siblings Crawford, Vivian and Sheila and many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her son Stephen, her parents William and Ellen Gray, her brother Bill, and sisters Eileen, Phyllis and Patricia.
Joan was born in St. James, Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was proud of her Irish heritage and always tried to do her best in everything that she did. Her smile and laughter could light up a room. A devoted mother, homemaker and military wife, Joan served in the civilian staff of the Canadian Armed Forces for 20 years (1974-1994) retiring as a supervisor in the WOs' & Sgts' Mess in Comox, BC. Her professionalism and dedication were recognized with the Base Commander's Award for Service in 1992.
We loved Mom so much and we will miss her always. A celebration of her life and interment will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Arthritis Society are appreciated.
"There's a place in our memory,
Our life, that you fill,
No other can take it,
No one ever will."
